To mount your curtains on a curtain track you will need low curtain hooks. The curtain is then 'hooked' in the loops in the curtain track (these are included in the track's complete package!), whick allows the curtain to glide smoothly back and forth. A curtain in single width needs ca 20 curtain hooks per length, and a curtain in double width needs ca 40 curtain hooks per length.
A ceiling mounted curtain track is the most flexible mounting, as you can place it wherever you want in the ceiling. If you don't have any obstacles that affect where you can fit the track, we recommend that you place the curtain track ca 5-10cm from the wall.
Fitting a curtain track in the ceiling is probably the easiest way to mount your curtains. Do you need a different length of curtain track than our fixed lengths? No problem, you can easily cut and join the track to get your perfect measurements! All Gotain curtain tracks come in complete packages that include brackets that can be fitted in both walls and ceilings. You can simply install the brackets in your ceiling or wall with screws and plugs that fit your wall/ceiling underlay. On the wall/ceiling brackets there is a small 'lever', which should be pointed vertically to latch on the track. When the curtain track is in place, it's time to lock the track in place. You do this by pulling the lever 90 degrees to a horisontal position to the side. You can easily detach the track by pulling the lever back to starting position.
All Gotain curtains are sewn the same, with a tranclucent pleating tape for a discreet mounting with curtain hooks. With hooks the curtain can be mounted on both a curtain track and a curtain rod, for mounting on a curtain track you choose the low curtain hooks, and for a mounting on a curtain rod you choose the high curtain hooks.
It all depends on what look you are aiming for with your curtains! For a classic mounting for example in a living room or dining area we recommend a single track, and for a luxorious hotel mounting you can choose a double track. Read more about how you can achieve a hotel look here!
Are you looking to get that hotel-feeling in the bedroom with curtains in double layers? Mount your curtain tracks in parallell with a distace of ca 7-10cm, or on the wall by using a double bracket. Read more tips and tricks on how to get that perfect hotel mounting in our guide here!
For Gotain curtains we recommend that you choose Gotains curtain tracks, for the best possible result. Our curtains are specially designed to cover the track completely, and to get the most beautiful curtain waves.
We recommend that you let your curtain track extend ca 30cm on each side of your window if you choose curtains in single width, and ca 50-60cm if you choose curtains in double width. This makes it possible to 'park' the curtains on the sides of the window, and for a textile and framing feeling in your decor. Of you choose thin curtains, like Gotains thin linen curtains or hotel voile curtains, this is not as vital since the curtains are very sheer and let light in even when draped over the window.
A curtain track that is installed correctly (with a compatible screw/plug for your underlay), is the by far the most stabile kind of mounting and can hold for heavier weights. For example a hotel look, where the blackout curtain, which also is the heaviest curtain, is mounted facing the room, we recommend that you choose ceiling mounted tracks if possible.
Gotain curtain tracks are designed to, together with our low curtain hooks, let the curtain come as high up as possible and cover the tracks completely. Here you can read our guide on how to use curtain hooks and thread them in the curtains.
It's not unusual that windowsills, pipes or radiators protrude from the wall, and hinder the curtains from falling freely along the curtain track. No problem, if that is the case you just fit your celing mounted track farther out from the wall or choose a longer bracket for your wall mounted track!
