Sheer Curtains

One of the reasons why sheer curtains are a customer favorite - regardless if you prefer thin linen or voile - is that they are the perfect privacy protection without compromising on sunlight. If have windows on ground floor level, direct sunlight or just enjoy a bit of extra privacy, a sheer curtain can be your match. A common question from our customers is which one of our sheer curtains that is the "most dense" hence gives the most shielding, and our recommendation then would be choosing the thin linen curtain.

All Gotain curtains are sewn with a pleating band at the top, that has pockets with a predecided distance. These pockets make sure you get even waves every time. For mounting you curtains on a curtain rod, choose the high curtain hooks. If you are going to mount your sheer curtains on a track, then choose low curtain hooks.

Sheer curtains are a perfect match for both your living room as well as the dining room, well basically all rooms that you want to drape with curtains but not compromise on light admission. Sheer curtains are also perfect for your bedroom where they could well be combined with a heavier curtain (perhaps a blackout curtain?), for a luxorious hotel feeling.

Our sheer curtains are available in two qualities, a thin linen curtain and a hotel voile curtain. The thin linen curtain is made out of 100% french linen, where the yarn on the linen coils which are used to weave the fabric are thinner in some parts and thicker in some, which gives the linen fabric a lively and organic character. Our hotel voile curtain is made out of 100% polyester voile, specially designed to have a beautiful drape and repell dust. The textile is as sheer as they get and the weave is without variations, as voile is french for "veil".

To maintain color and quality we recommend vacuuming your curtains every now and then. Use a soft nozzle and let it run along the fabric to remove dust and dirt that otherwise can stick in the fabric. Use a steamer to minimise creasing created over time.

In case of dirt/staining we always recommend spot treatment as a first step. Clean with warm water and a white cloth - gently dab the fabric and finish with steaming - let dry. In case of more substantial staining/dirt we advice dry cleaning. Ensure that you local dry cleaner has the correct competence and tools to manage your staining, to avoid unpleasant surprises such as shrinkage etc. We recommend that you steam your curtains instead of ironing, this is a much more gentle treatment that doesn't strain the fibers of the fabric as much.

You are not alone to wonder about the actual difference between our hotel voile curtain and thin linen curtain - let's get things straight! The thin linen curtain is made out of 100% linen, it's soft and flexible and let's plenty of light through. The texture in the fabric is what can make it appear a bit more natural (or bohemian depending on styling!). Our hotel voile curtain is specially designed to fit together with a heavier curtain for a so called hotel mounting in two layers - but it's just as stunning as a solo artist! It's made out of a voile that makes it stabile, dust repellent and maybe best of all... It almost (if even at all!) doesn't need steaming!
