How to: Blackout Curtains
Blackout-Curtains help you to keep out the morning light and sleep better. Regardless if you yourself enjoy sleeping in or just want others in your household to sleep a bit longer, we have 3 tips and tricks to get the black-out effect perfect just for you!
THINK HIGH AND WIDE
To get the best possible blackout effect we recommend a rail that runs along the whole width of the room. This way the light won't peek in on the sides or above the rail. If you have a wall mounted rail or rod - try mounting it as high up and close to the ceiling as possible!
DON'T FORGET THE DROP
The sun will do what it can to peek in by the sides of your curtains, and it's easy to forget the little gap by the floor. Most homes have slightly uneaven floors, which is why we always recommend adding 1cm to the length of your curtains, which is of highest importance when aiming for a blackout effect.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT MOUNTING
A lined blackout curtain is heavier than most other curtains, and therefore it's extra important that your rail or rod are mounted correctly. Vi recommend that you mount your rail on the ceiling, but if you have to mount it on the wall - keep in mind to use some extra wall brackets to ensure that everything is stabile and stays in place.
